Just a try

(First published online on May 29, 2008)

Everything was fine while he's looking at the four corners of an empty room. He stayed in that particular room when he thought that he needs nothing but the peacefulness of his surroundings. He gazed at his sides and noticed the simplicity of his life. Just like what he had read, the simpler life he lives, the less complicated problems he faces.

Then, a lady with a butterfly entered the room. The butterfly was great and was color yellow. It looks nice and he feels perfectly happy while he continues to feel its presence within the room. Then the lady taught him of different things. She opened his mind to more brilliant ideas. She makes him feel his true worth.

As the yellow butterfly moves around him, he begins to love her. The lady told him that he was not supposed to fall for that beautiful entity because it was just there to accompany him. So, hard as it may seem, he followed his maestra. Then another butterfly entered the room, and this time, it was colored red.

He was suddenly hurt and somewhat jealous when he noticed that both the yellow and red butterflies were happy with each others company. He realized that since he just loved silently, he had no right to get hurt. So even bleeding inside, he continued his lessons with his maestra.

But time comes when the red butterfly moved away. He felt happy when the yellow didn't follow and it stays in the room, though it seems that the yellow butterfly also wanted to follow the red one. He was mixed with different emotions; joyful that the butterfly stays with him and sad that though she stays, she still knows nothing about his feelings for her.

Then, his friend entered the room and just like him, his friend was also amaze with the butterfly. He told this friend to follow the lady's rule but his friend was just an ordinary guy like him who desires to be with the precious entity. Once again, he realized that he had no right to control his friend's emotions and if that makes his friend happy then so be it. He just continued his lessons with his maestra while seeing his friend happy with the butterfly.

At the end of his first session with the lady, he succeeded on learning too much. He felt so sad that his maestra will come again but her butterflies will have to leave her.

The butterfly that once stayed in the room now moves out to the window and feels the cool breeze of the outside. He remembered the rule that if you love someone, set her free. At the end of the journey, if you really are destined with each other then you'll meet again but for now, move forward.
