Cookin' David

(First published online on May 22, 2008)

Who mentioned that a battle in singing between two guys will be boring? Well, American Idol proved it wrong as they once again broke their previous record of having a vast number of voters after receiving more than 97 million callers yesterday night in a two-hour voting duration. After the nationwide voting, the new American Idol for the seventh season was crowned.

This season was a battle between two Davids. However, Cook, a 25-year old bartender from Missouri got the title. He was 12% ahead of Archuleta who is a 17-year old resident of Salt Lake, Utah. Known to be a rock star, Cook proved Simon wrong when the latter tried to predict that Archuleta would win this season.

It was a tough night for the two Davids and a battle against Archuleta was never an easy job for he was among the final contenders who were never put in the bottom three. However, Cook remained the crowd favorite especially when he sang a different rendition of the Mariah Carey hit single, “Always be my Baby”.

Once again, the American Idol was a big success and its producers assure Cook of a great career in Hollywood. Definitely, this year’s main course not only for the Americans but for the other nations as well was “Cookin’ David”.
